How Octav Minds works
A general model knows a great deal and believes none of it. An expert knows less and has convictions. Octav Minds exists to give you the second kind of answer.
A mindset is not a persona
Asking a language model to "act as a CFO" produces an average of every CFO it has ever read about. The result is fluent, agreeable and almost useless for a real decision, because the whole value of an expert is the part where they disagree with the average.
A mindset is built the other way round. We work with one operator to write down how they actually reason: the principles they apply, the questions they ask before they will give an opinion, the trade-offs they refuse, and the way they say it. That document is tested against their own judgement on real cases until they agree it argues the way they do.

Where this comes from
The approach rests on a long line of research into how expertise actually works — what separates a practitioner's judgement from a well-read amateur's.
What you should not expect
A mindset is a model of a person, not the person. It does not know your company, it cannot be held to account, and on any given question a real person might respond differently — sometimes because the model is wrong, sometimes because the person has changed their mind since.
Treat it as you would a well-briefed colleague who has seen your problem before: worth arguing with, not worth deferring to.
