How it works

Three layers, one answer

Octav Minds is not a model. It is a layer that sits on top of frontier models and decides what they should believe while they are talking to you.

1

Minds

Judgement

The mindset: one operatorโ€™s principles, the questions they always ask, the trade-offs they refuse, and their voice. This layer decides what the answer should argue.

2

Skills

Method

The reusable procedures an expert applies โ€” how to read a cash flow statement, how to qualify a deal, how to structure a levelling framework. Shared across experts, applied differently by each.

3

LLM

Language and reasoning

A frontier model provides fluency, general knowledge and the ability to follow an argument. It supplies the words, not the position.

Why the separation matters

Keeping judgement out of the model means an expert's mindset can be corrected, versioned and re-published without retraining anything. When William changes his mind about how to price runway, we edit one document and every future answer changes with him.

It also means the underlying model is replaceable. As frontier models improve, the same mindset gets sharper without being rewritten โ€” the layer that carries the opinion is ours, and it is portable.

What runs underneath today

Minds talks to several frontier providers directly rather than through a single vendor, so a model outage or a price change does not take the product with it. Every answer records which model produced it and what it cost, because an advice product that cannot account for its own economics has no business advising anyone on theirs.
